Annually, UW-Stout Career Services has the opportunity to nominate one student for the Cooperative Education Student Achievement Award through the Cooperative Education and Internship Association (CEIA). Nationwide, one student is selected to receive the Co-op Student Achievement Award annually. This award is the highest honor a Cooperative Education student can receive in the nation. In 2019, UW-Stout Packaging student Ryan Knudtson received CEIA’s National Cooperative Education Student Achievement Award in Chicago, IL. Ryan completed a seven month cooperative education experience at Johnsonville, Inc. in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Johnsonville has developed a strong cooperative experience which allowed Ryan to be exposed to all parts of the industry, network with company leaders, participate in professional development, manage packaging related projects and gain strong experience in the packaging industry. Ryan received the award in April 2019 as part of the annual conference awards dinner. Ryan was supervised by Jason Foss (UW-Stout Packaging 2010 Alum). Ryan was nominated by UW-Stout’s Cooperative Education Coordinator, Bethany Henthorn. Ryan and his supervisor Jason Foss submit written statements as part of the nomination process. Ryan was selected he winner by the CEIA’s awards committee members.

“The Midwest Region in CEIA, in which the University of Wisconsin-Stout is a member, has long been a leader in experiential education.  We applaud their leadership and efforts to give quality co-op experiences to their students.  The experience they have provided for this student to excel will last him a lifetime."

- Kelly Harper, CEIA Vice President Region 4 Midwest

As a leader in work-integrated learning the Cooperative Education and Internship Association (CEIA) Student Achievement Award is a way to recognize co-op students such as Ryan who have excelled in the field. Students like Ryan are leaders among their peers and represent the future workforce. Recognizing achievements such as Ryan’s is a highlight for our conference each year.”
