Deano Samens is the Instrument Shop Supervisor for the Materials Process Lab, which services the Students and Faculty of the School of Art and Design in the College of Arts and Human Sciences. He is a first-Generation College Student and a non-traditional graduate of the UW Stout Studio Art Program, with a concentration in Painting.
His appreciation for all the Arts and creative problem solving, along with a career of work experience in customer service make him a natural fit for working with future Artists and Designers. With a wide range of knowledge of Materials and Processes, and an open mind, he has helped many students bring their visions to reality; all the while keeping safety as paramount, with a record to back it up.
When he is not in fabricating “making mode” you can find the avid outdoorsman hiking or exploring. Sometimes contemplating in the peaceful quiet sounds of nature while writing a new “passage with personality”. A stark contrast to the loud hustle bustle of everyday life in the Process Lab.
