Katie Lupton is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Interactive Media. She teaches graphic design, focusing on print, typography, experiential design, and design thinking courses. Lupton is the faculty advisor for the UW-Stout AIGA Student Group. She started her teaching career as a lecturer at UW-Stout and adjunct instructor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. After five years, she moved to the Myrtle Beach area and taught at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.

Her studio practice combines print, pattern, packaging, and product design. The work aims to investigate relationships between design constraints and parameters within systems. The tactile nature of the work is heavily influenced by play and participation and how both can be incorporated into design solutions.

Lupton's work has been exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Can Can Wonderland (the first arts-based public benefit corporation in Minnesota), U.S. Bank Stadium, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, University of Wisconsin-Stout, and Coastal Carolina University.
