Jia has a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in instructional technology. She comes from the middle part of China and moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin from Pennsylvania four years ago. Jia’s husband works at UW-Stout in the English department, and they have a seven-year-old son.
