Winter Recreation in Menomonie

Getting outside this winter
December 13, 2024

As the coldest months of the year set in, we tend to settle down and stay bundled up inside. But if your student enjoys the cold and getting out in the snow, there are plenty of activities on campus and in the Menomonie community.

Menomonie has great locations for winter hiking, skiing and snowshoeing:

University Recreation and Stout Adventures offer snowshoes, cross country skis and an indoor climbing wall for beginners and experts.

Students can rent equipment by visiting Stout Adventures, calling 715-232-5625 or emailing stoutadventures@uwstout.edu.

  • Snowshoes are $5 for the day or $10 for the weekend.
  • Cross country skis are $7 for the day or $14 for the weekend.

Gyms and other facilities are open by appointment. Fitness centers are available for UW-Stout employees and indoor gyms and track are available for campus and community.
