Local Resources

The Bridge To Hope  Free confidential sexual assault and domestic violence services and referrals - for all ages, genders, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)   In cases of sexual assault, these facilities offer medical/forensic examination by a trained SANE nurse. If the assault was recent (within 120 hours – 5 days), survivors should save clothing that was worn and not shower/ bathe in order for physical evidence to be collected. If possible, students should bring along health insurance coverage information. Requests for health insurance billing information to not appear on parents' health insurance may be available upon request. Services are confidential.

Menomonie Police Department – To report incidents of sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking occurring off-campus. 24-hour emergency response available for students in crisis.

Dunn County Victim/Witness Assistance Program  For survivors who choose to pursue criminal charges, this program provides information and explanation about the legal process and victims' rights and assistance with obtaining restraining orders. Services are free.

Campus Resources

Dean of Students – Information on options for obtaining support on campus (including possible adjustments in living arrangements or academic schedules) and pursuing campus disciplinary investigation.

UW-Stout Police – To report incidents of sexual violence occurring on-campus. Information available for pursuing legal investigations, reviewing personal safety options, and guiding toward resources for obtaining restraining/protective orders.

Counseling Center  A confidential resource for students to report incidents of sexual violence and receive follow-up counseling services. Counselors can help survivors consider their reporting options, and are not obligated to report this information to others. Services are free and confidential.

Student Health Services – A confidential resource where survivors can be evaluated and treated for possible injuries and receive screening for STI and/or pregnancy. A triage nurse is available to answer medical questions and provide medical advice.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – Free, confidential EAP program for UW-Stout employees and anyone living in their household. Professional counselors are available both on the phone and on an in-person basis locally. Employees are eligible for up to 5 sessions per issue per year without accessing insurance.

Students For Consent  This student organization supports education, empowerment, awareness, and advocacy for students and surrounding community.
